Die Ursprünge des Reisens und des Tourismus

Transnistria actually means „beyond the Dniester“. However, the inhabitants prefer the name Pridnestrovie. Transnistria, only a narrow strip between Ukraine and Moldova, declared itself independent of Moldova in the early 1990’s. It has its own government, flag, passports and anthem, currency, administration and a military. Only international recognition has so far been denied.

In Tiraspol, we met artist and tour guide Anton Dendemarchenko. He guides tourists through impressive lost places from the USSR era, curious Soviet history, and nowadays life in Transnistria/Pridnestrovie.
