Die erste Welle fand in den 1990ern statt: Der Cyberfeminismus war in großen Teilen eine Bewegung von Künstlerinnen und verband international Frauen, die der männlichen Vormachtstellung die eigene Vernetzung entgegenstellten. Inspiriert war die Bewegung von Donna Haraways Cyborg Manifesto und Cyberpunk; beispielhafte Projekte sind VNS Matrix, das Old Boys Network, die Cyberfeministische Internationale oder die Mailingliste Faces.

Bisher gab es kaum Begegnungen zwischen ‘alten’ und ‘neuen’ Netzfeministinnen – gibt es überhaupt Gemeinsamkeiten jenseits der Geschlechterfrage? Darüber sprechen Diana McCarty und Valie Djordjevic,

Lynn Hershman Leeson (b. in 1941 in Cleveland, Ohio) is an American artist and filmmaker. She was Professor Emeritus at the University of California, Davis, and an A.D. White Professor-at-Large at Cornell University. She is Chair of the Film Department at the San Francisco Art Institute. Hershman studied at the University of California Berkeley in the late 60’s.

Over the last three decades, artist and filmmaker Lynn Hershman Leeson has been internationally acclaimed for her pioneering use of new technologies and her investigations of issues that are now recognized as key to the working of our society: identity in a time of consumerism, privacy in an era of surveillance, interfacing of humans and machines, and the relationship between real and virtual worlds.

Die US-amerikanische Regisseurin Lynn Hershman Leeson hat sich in ihrem neuen Film Women Art Revolution der Entwicklung der feministischen Kunstszene seit den 60er Jahren in ihrer Heimat beschäftigt. Dazu führte sie diverse Interviews und suchte in den Archiven nach Filmmaterial und Fotos. Sie will damit auf die oft verwischten Spuren der Frauen kommen, die sich mit ihrem künstlerischen Schaffen für eine Verbesserung der gesellschaftlichen Stellung von Frauen, aber auch andere politische und soziale Belange engagiert haben und so radikals zur Veränderung der Kulturszene unserer Zeit beigetragen haben.

Franco Berardi Bifo is a contemporary writer, media-theorist and media-activist. He founded the magazine A/traverso (1975-1981) and was part of the staff of Radio Alice, the first free pirate radio station in Italy (1976-1978). Like others Involved in the political movement of Autonomia in Italy during the 1970’s, he fled to Paris, where he worked with Felix Guattari in the field of schizoanalysis. During the 1980’s he contributed to the magazines Semiotexte (New York), Chimerees (Paris), Metropoli (Rome) and Musica 80 (Milan). In the 1990’s he published Mutazione e Ciberpunk (Genoa, 1993), Cibernauti (Rome, 1994), and Felix (Rome, 2001). He is currently collaborating on the magazine Derive Approdi as well as teaching social history of communication at the Accademia di belle Arti in Milan. He is the co-founder of the e-zine rekombinant.org and the telestreet phenomenon.
